Kick off Sacramento’s farm-to-fork celebrations in September by attending the Farm to Every Fork gala, a benefit dinner where guests will enjoy a gourmet meal prepared by chefs Michael Thiemann and Matt Masera of downtown restaurants Mother and Empress Tavern. Using fresh ingredients sourced from local farms, the meal aims to raise awareness about ending hunger in the region, and each ticket buys two meals at the event (one for the ticketholder and one for locals who have experienced food insecurity or hunger). Christopher Paige, the CEO of California Human Development, a nonprofit dedicated to helping low-income individuals secure education, training and job opportunities, will provide a keynote speech, and proceeds from the event will go toward participating organizations, including the Sacramento Homeless Organizing Committee. Before dinner ends, make sure to sign up for the silent auction, which includes items like gift cards to local restaurants including Magpie.
