Grammy-nominated reggae vocalist Matisyahu, whose music videos have garnered tens of millions of views on YouTube, will take the stage at downtown’s Ace of Spades to support his sixth studio album Undercurrent, which was released in May. Known for his genre-bending blend of reggae, hip-hop, beatboxing and rock rhythms, the Brooklyn-based artist uses music to illustrate themes from his Orthodox Jewish faith, often interspersing Hebrew and Yiddish throughout tracks. Concertgoers can expect to hear Matisyahu’s most recent single, "Broken Crowns," an electric collaboration with reggae group Common Kings, and the popular, uplifting “One Day,” from his third album, Light. For this Sacramento stop on his current North American tour, the 38-year-old star will be backed by members of his band, including bassist Stu Brooks, who has recorded with everyone from Lady Gaga to 50 Cent, and acclaimed New York City keyboardist Big Yuki.
