103 Sacramento St.
Auburn , CA 95603 530-888-1033
From its rustic exposed brick walls to its polished brown concrete floors, visiting Bistro 103 feels less like entering Auburn’s newest eatery than slipping into a warm pocket of its heritage. But there’s nothing quaint about the menu—just meticulously prepared, farm-fresh food. Unique standouts include the “komeback” dressing, which accompanies dishes like portobella mushroom fries, and combines mayo, spices and hot sauce derived from Mississippi, where John Dooley—who co-owns the restaurant with his wife, Patty—lived for 20 years. Hearty entrées include the pepper steak and Mary’s roasted chicken, but make sure to save room for dessert—the panna cotta topped with seasonal fruit and dusted in vanilla bean sugar is just further proof that sometimes you have to get out of the grid to feel at home.
