Serving a cross-section of nine-to-fivers, collegians and flirty singles, Bistro 33 shook up the downtown Davis dining scene in 2005. A Sacramento import, it’s taken on a distinctly Davis persona: Look no further than its location as the former home of the town’s Historic City Hall, or the menu with more vegetarian options (such as the white bean and artichoke purée) than its Sacramento sister restaurants, given Davis’ university (read: left-leaning) population. But like its culinary siblings, Bistro 33 also celebrates Northwest cuisine, as evidenced by its inventive paninis with names like The Rainier, Pikes Market and The Puget Sound, the latter of which comes with Dungeness crab, Alaskan Bay shrimp, artichokes and Tillamook cheddar cheese.
