The Wong family’s hip, yet low-key and welcoming comfort-food restaurant—a thorough revamp of the space that formerly housed the upmarket Mason’s—isn’t like the cafeterias you remember from grade school. There’s gracious table service and tasty, homey fare, like tater tots spiked with truffle oil and mac and cheese with Parmesan and aged white cheddar. Other winners include the delicious lunchtime sandwiches (like the house-roasted turkey club with bacon, avocado and radish sprouts on whole wheat), the oversized chicken and waffles platter, creamy milk shakes and malts, and the fresh, fruity mocktails, like a to-die-for raspberry lemonade. The sharp and whimsical industro-chic design features everything from Eames-style chairs to a vintage model airplane hanging from the ceiling.
