Cielito Lindo

  • Mexican

Essential Information

3672 J St.
Sacramento , CA 95816

Unassuming on the outside, Cielito Lindo surprises on the inside, with pretty patterns on the frosted windows complementing vibrant bright orange and lime walls. The flavors in this charming East Sacramento destination (which originally opened in 2013 and reopened last year after a fire) for refined regional Mexican cooking are just as bright and pleasing as the décor. Chef-owner Ramiro Alarcon delivers a menu full of fresh tastes, like a chunky sopa verde that combines poblano chiles and purslane, alongside familiar traditional dishes like a richly savory mole poblano. The menu includes a large selection of vegetarian and seafood dishes (such as salmon a la veracruzana, cooked en papillote), but meat eaters will love appetizers like panuchos, tiny corn tortillas filled with black bean paste and topped with excellent cochinita pibil (pork cooked in achiote, Yucatecan-style). Don’t miss the refreshing aguas frescas, drinks made with fresh fruits and veggies (like a combination of celery and pineapple) and sweetened with cane sugar.
