East meets Wild West at this Old Sacramento outpost of the Fat family’s local chain of restaurants. The décor is pure 19th-century Americana with brick walls, dozens of Tiffany lamps and a massive stained glass light above the handsome Gold Rush-style bar. The menu is the Fat empire’s most diverse, mixing fried calamari, potstickers, chow mein and a Chinese chicken salad with plenty of pasta dishes and good old-fashioned burgers and steaks in a nod to the district’s rich American West roots. But one thing it does have in common with its sister eateries is the famous Fat’s banana cream pie, arguably Sacramento’s single most celebrated local dessert.
