Essential Information

1132 16th St.
Sacramento, CA 95814

Downtown’s buzzing, crowd-pleasing casual American eatery and bar, housed inside the Firestone Tire Building (which dates to 1929), is a partnership between the Wong brothers, Curtis, Mason and Alan—of Cafeteria 15L, Ma Jong’s Asian Diner, Gogi’s Korean BBQ, Iron Horse Tavern, The Park Ultra Lounge and Mix Downtown—and the de Vere White brothers, Henry, Simon and Mark, of the next-door pub de Vere’s. The latter’s pub background comes in handy for the beer list featuring almost 60 different brews and hard ciders on tap, at least five of which rotate seasonally, including suds by local breweries Berryessa and Fieldwork. The menu of elevated bar bites and hearty fare ranges from brandy-fried chicken (a favorite from the menu of the Wong family’s first restaurant, Luau Garden) to soft-shell crab tacos and a giant, buttery 10-inch Bavarian pretzel that’s a must-try dish. The interior is covered with flat-screen TVs featuring sports, but also clever design elements like artfully displayed kegs.
