And they do mean hot: The oven fires at 700 degrees, toasty enough to bake the blistered crust to perfection in as little as two minutes. Toppings—from simple mozzarella and tomato to innovative concoctions like the Fiori pizza with prosciutto, mushrooms, arugula and Bariani truffle oil—are applied with a delicate hand, in the Italian tradition. But the pizza isn’t the only draw: There’s excellent organic gelato (from Berkeley’s Almare gelateria), strong espresso and a well-priced wine list, plus sparkling prosecco fruit cocktails—at weekend brunch especially, the perfect cool contrast to the hot pizzas.
