Popular Sacramento caterer Magpie, owned by Janel Inouye and Ed Roehr, has settled into a cozy, welcoming and casual nest in the now bustling R Street Corridor. Here they serve an ever-changing menu of mostly seasonal and local fare. Nosh on nibbles like a farmstead cheese plate, samplers of Fra’ Mani charcuterie or a crispy pork belly with black mission figs, pickled onions, cilantro and coriander-infused honey. Or try more substantial dishes like seared polenta or the chicken two ways (pan-seared breast and thigh confit). Just after a treat? Magpie offers seasonal fruit desserts, but we love the nubbly oatmeal cookies.
