Don’t let its small size fool you. This wildly popular vegetarian restaurant has big ambitions. The creative and ever-changing menu fashioned by chef Michael Thiemann (who owns and operates the restaurant with his wife Lisa and partner Ryan Donahue, the same trio behind Mother’s carnivore-catering cousin Empress Tavern a few doors down) dazzles with its inventive selections that make even non-vegetarians swoon. Hit dishes include the chicken-fried oyster mushrooms (also available in an excellent po’ boy) and the carrot nutburger topped with caramelized onions and arugula. And make sure you stay for one of the rotating desserts, like a vegan salted chocolate chip cookie.
