Perched high above the street in the Montano de El Dorado shopping center, Relish Burger Bar is a casual spot from the owner of Folsom’s more upscale Bidwell St. Bistro. Like its setting, however, it’s elevated just a bit above what you’d expect from a standard burger joint, offering not just a big lineup of inventive martini-style drinks, but also a herd of signature burgers using naturally raised beef from farms like Reno’s Durham Ranch. The choices range from the Bordeaux (with crimini mushrooms and a counterintuitive burgundy sauce), the Cajun-spiced Bayou Burger and non-beef options like the Dubliner Guinness pork burger, as well as lamb, turkey and veggie versions. Crowd-pleasing apps like Kobe beef sliders with onion marmalade; a platter of sweet potato fries, jalapeño poppers and beer-battered onion rings; and light, crispy golden fries further help explain why the place has been stampeded by locals.
