The Hideaway Bar & Grill

Essential Information

If ever a dive bar could give you the warm fuzzies, it’s this Curtis Park stalwart famous for its deep-fried pickles. Feeling decadent? Get them as a side with the Royale Burger, a garlic-stuffed beef patty topped with onion rings, avocado, bacon, Swiss cheese and grilled mushrooms. Feeling disciplined? The Hideaway also has creatively named salads like the Love Lust (mixed greens, feta, black olives, bell pepper, onion, tomato, cucumber and red wine vinaigrette). The look is retro kitsch, with pinup art on the walls and tabletops covered with postcards, flyers and customer drawings on napkins under glass, and, in another nod to bygone times, you won’t find any of the convivial neighborhood regulars texting and drinking while bellied up to the bar or chilling on the spacious patio.
