This Lao and Thai standby was long a favorite for Sacramentans seeking the fresh flavors of Lao-style dishes—but the restaurant wasn’t beloved for its grungy location. Owners Susan and Dariphone Sisommout bought the place in 2006, and relocated a year later to a shiny new spot on Jefferson Blvd. Happily, they haven’t changed the vibrant flavors of the restaurant’s specialties, like peppery stuffed chicken wings (a signature dish), light Lao spring rolls with a tangy sauce, garlic pork, or chili prawns with red curry, green chili and fragrant makrut lime leaves. Many regulars come for the distinctive Lao dishes, like juicy, spicy Lao sausage, but those who love Thai food will be equally satisfied with items like drunken noodles and tom kha soups.
