5 can't-miss things at this year's TBD Fest

TBD Fest is back for its second year from Sept. 18-20, and it's bigger than ever, with three days of food, art and, of course, music, featuring 90 acts on four different stages along the West Sacramento riverfront. Here are five things you won't want to miss at this year’s festival. The Music Headliners like Chromeo, Tyler the Creator, Canadian synth-pop duo Purity Ring and British new wave pioneers Tears for Fears will lead the lineup at TBD Fest this year. Paddleboarding race to raise money for Sacramento’s drowning rescue team

Make a splash for a good cause on the Sacramento river at the first Paddle 4 D.A.R.T. fundraiser on Aug. 8, when stand-up paddleboarders will compete to benefit Sacramento’s Drowning Accident Rescue Team (D.A.R.T). At this inaugural fundraiser, you can watch from Crawdad’s on the River and enter a raffle to win a paddleboard or gift card from restaurants and businesses like Crawdad’s, Chevys and Flow Stand Up Paddle. The 6th annual Sacramento Banana Festival paints the town yellow this weekend

Eat, dance and go bananas at Sacramento’s sixth annual Banana Festival, which will be held on Aug. 8 and 9 in Land Park. This year’s theme, “Viva La Banana,” embodies the spirit of Las Vegas with everything from variety shows to dance performances and an Elvis Presley impersonator. More than 8,000 visitors are expected to head to William Land Park for this year's celebration, which is produced by the National Youth Academic Corps and the Sojourner Truth Museum and will also feature a fashion show, youth talent competition and a magician act.
