Ruhstaller’s new downtown taproom opens

Ruhstaller will hold a soft opening for its new downtown taproom on Monday, Aug. 27, from 3-8 p.m. It’s the first of 17 retailers to open at the Hardin, the stylish new mixed-use project spanning the 700 block of K Street that will also house the Solomon’s Delicatessen, Kodaiko Ramen & Bar and other soon-to-be hot spots. The local brewery’s Dixon-area farm, with its avant-garde roadside signage and rows of climbing hops, is a familiar sight to those traveling down 80 toward the Bay Area, but it closed its previous downtown Sacramento taproom (around the corner from the new one) in March 2017, leaving the farm taproom as the only retail outlet for Ruhstaller, which is named after one of Sacramento’s legendary Gold Rush figures, brewer Captain Frank...

Sacramento is about to get a “slice” of a legendary Bay Area pizzeria thanks to a pair of former members of Berkeley’s Cheese Board Collective. The husband-and-wife team Alex Sherry and Chutharat Sae Tong recently moved to Sacramento and plans to open a similarly hyper-focused restaurant, called Majka Pizzeria & Bakery, on 15th Street in midtown, catty-corner from Fremont Park, late next year. UPDATE: After a series of “secret” lunch-only tryouts in September, La Crosta officially opened on Oct.16. Four pizzas currently grace the menu, including The Family, topped with salami, pineapples, jalapeños and three cheeses, as well as four piadinas (a thin Italian wrap), one of which is inspired by the Vietnamese banh mi. A new pizzeria and taproom to open in El Dorado Hills

Boulevard 41, a new fast-casual pizzeria and taproom, will open at El Dorado Hills Town Center by the end of September. The eatery will feature hand-crafted Neapolitan-style pizzas using ingredients from mainly Northern California-based farms. The menu will consist of six 11-inch pizzas featuring the namesake pie that comes with mozzarella, prosciutto and goat cheese, as well as a Polynesian-style pie with house-made marinara sauce, a three-cheese blend, pineapple and thin slices of Canadian bacon.
