Free Baby Socks at Kids' Boo-tique Grand Opening

The midtown boutique scene has struggled in recent years, but gets a boost this weekend when local children’s apparel company Trumpette—best known for its playful baby socks—hosts a grand opening for its new store on 20th and I streets in midtown (its only standalone retail location) during Second Saturday this weekend from 4 to 8 p.m. And for the occasion, the shop will be gifting its visitors a pre-Halloween treat for little ones’ feet, a pair of boo-tiful, ghost-printed socks to warm their toes (pictured).
The Sacramento-based baby brand founded by Jon Stevenson has already gained a foothold in Hollywood, with its socks adorning the well-heeled tots of celebrity moms like Gwen Stefani, Jessica Alba and Hilary Duff. Trumpette has also teamed up with the likes of Peanuts, Yo Gabba Gabba and Disney, which invited the company to join fashion designers like Dolce & Gabbana and Betsey Johnson to create specially themed apparel (this collaboration has yielded items like Seven Dwarfs socks and knit hats with Mickey ears), for the fall 2012 season. Want to see, feel and wear what all the fuss is about? The list of retail stores carrying the local label includes Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys, Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom—and now Trumpette’s own midtown Sacramento boutique.
Open on Sept. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. Normal store hours: Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. 2020 I St. 851-0000. trumpette.com
