Block Butcher Bar

Cuisine: American

Essential Information

1050 20th St., Sacramento, CA 95814

With its dark wood accents and intimate booths, this pocket-sized offshoot of the bustling beer mecca LowBrau has a slightly quieter, more refined vibe than its brash, older next-door sibling. Diners can build their own platters from a wide-ranging assortment of cheeses and cured meats—everything from salami to coppa—or rely on the menu of excellent sandwiches and cured plates, from a chicken liver pâté with pickled mustard seeds and apricot jam to a cubano with roasted pork and ham, Gruyère cheese and pickled red onions. Oh, and all that salty cured meat will make you thirsty—good thing there’s an excellent cocktail and spirits list, not to mention beer (hey, we did say Block Butcher Bar is related to LowBrau, didn’t we?).
