What’s the difference between a natural and lab-grown diamond?
The answer is surprisingly simple: their origin. Natural diamonds are formed deep within the Earth over billions of years under tremendous heat and pressure. Each carries a unique geological history. Lab-grown diamonds are created using advanced technology that replicates these same conditions, producing a genuine diamond with the same chemical composition, crystal structure, brilliance, fire, hardness and durability. Even trained jewelers require specialized gemological equipment to distinguish one from the other.
Is Diamonique or a diamond simulant the same as a diamond?
No. Diamond simulants—including Diamonique, cubic zirconia (CZ), and crystal—are designed to resemble diamonds but are entirely different materials. They are generally softer, more prone to scratching, and typically do not retain the durability or long-term value of natural or lab-grown diamonds. While simulants are an excellent choice for fashion jewelry or travel pieces, it’s important to understand exactly what you’re purchasing.
