Designer Showcase—California Closets

May 15, 2025
Leah Goss,

Sacramento-Based Design Team

Your new, custom-designed storage space starts with a complimentary consultation with one of our expert design consultants. During the first meeting, we’ll take measurements, inventory your belongings and listen closely to understand your needs and ideas. Our Sacramento team is passionate about collaborating with you to achieve your storage needs and vision, utilizing our proprietary 3D software, which will help you visualize your space while designing to your budget.

What is your top tip on how to maximize closet space?

To go vertical! Utilize shelves, hooks and hanging rods all the way to the top of the closet. You’d be surprised how much space you have when you stop thinking only in terms of what’s at eye level. Also, baskets and bins are key for smaller items—just make sure to label them so things don’t get lost in the shuffle.

What design trends are you seeing in customized storage?

Minimalist aesthetics with clean lines that celebrate simplicity and functionality are trending. But don’t get intimidated by mixing colors and accents. This will give you a more custom look! It’s all about creating storage that feels tailored to your lifestyle—plus, maximizing every square inch.

What area in the home is often overlooked when it comes to maximizing storage?

Smaller spaces like linen closets, pantries and even utility areas are often overlooked but can greatly benefit from thoughtful design. Simple solutions like adjustable shelving, pull-out racks and efficient compartmentalization can make a significant difference in keeping these spaces organized and functional.

What’s one piece of professional design advice you offer?

Always consider the flow and function of a space first. Style is important, of course, but if the design doesn’t work for how you live, it’s not going to be effective. Think about how you use a room and what will make your day-to-day life easier—then, layer in the aesthetics. Function should always be the priority before beauty!
