Family-Owned Businesses 2024

January 3, 2024
Leah Goss,

Fischer Tile & Marble
Trent, Jay & Taryn Fischer

Henry Prince Fischer, Sr., started Fischer Tile & Marble 117 years ago in 1906 and opened its second location in Sacramento in 1923. Now, Jay Fischer stands at the helm with brother-and-sister team Taryn and Trent Fischer—the fourth generation of Fischers—continuing to oversee the growth and success of the company.

Fischer garnered national acclaim for its part in restoring the California State Capitol, including the famous Minton tile in the rotunda. They have supplied and installed the tile and stonework for esteemed projects like the restoration of the 130-year-old Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, the Golden 1 Center and most recently, the Sacramento Courthouse.

Today, the shop provides tile, stone and solid surface fabrication and installation for a wide range of projects including education, hospitality, government, residential, healthcare and corporate facilities. They also run a certified apprentice program.

Even with more than 100 employees, Fischer remains committed to their family-run organizational values.
