The national spoken-word series Listen to Your Mother is one of the holiday weekend events taking place in Sacramento.

Whether you’re looking for a last-minute way to celebrate with your mom or a place to pamper her, the Sacramento region has plenty of Mother’s Day events in store. From free tastings at a Newcastle winery to a baseball brunch at Raley Field and a mommy-and-me painting session with mimosas, check out these 10 unique events that are sure to make your mom feel extra special.

Revolution Wines

Listen to Your Mother
On Saturday, spend some time at the Guild Theater reflecting on what motherhood means at Sacramento’s production of the nationally acclaimed spoken-word presentation focused on “giving motherhood a microphone.” As one of 32 performances throughout the country, LYTM Sacramento will feature 14 readings from local mothers (including author Dawn Dais and photographer Nichole Beaudry) and one father. Part of the proceeds will go to benefit the area nonprofit Women Escaping a Violent Environment. $20 in advance; $25 at the door. Wise Villa Winery
Placer County’s only winery with a commercial kitchen and gourmet chef will serve Sunday brunch in its food-and-wine pairing bistro. Reservations are required for the prix-fixe meal, which includes mimosas, a choice of steak and eggs, lobster eggs benedict or apple cinnamon French toast, and dessert. River Cats Mother’s Day Brunch
The River Cats are making Mother’s Day plans easy for baseball fans with brunch at Raley Field during the team’s game against the Salt Lake Bees. Mother’s Day Triathlon, Duathlon and Free One Mile Family Fun Run
Start Sunday off on the right foot with Total Body Fitness’ third annual race day for women only. The entire event takes place within Granite Bay State Park, beginning with a swim near Granite Beach, continuing with a bike ride through the hills around Folsom Lake and ending with a run toward Beal’s Point. Mother Hens in the Vineyard
Celebrate all weekend long at Elk Grove’s McConnell Estates Winery, where The Hen House of Wilton, a natural beauty products boutique, will hold its annual spring shopping event. Ten other vendors will also be selling their handmade products alongside live music and $5 glasses of wine. On Mother’s Day itself, the fifth-generation family vineyard will also offer complimentary champagne tasting and treats for moms. Free. To finish out Sunday’s festivities, stop by Punch Line Comedy Club for five women’s comedic take on motherhood.
