Food bank to host chef cook-off

The annual national Stamp Out Hunger food drive is this Saturday, but Sacramentans can help bring awareness to the cause by attending tomorrow’s Celebrity Cook-Off at 2:30 p.m.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of locally based California Emergency Foodlink, the culinary competition (think Iron Chef meets Project Runway) will feature three regional top chefs—Robb Venditti of Mulvaney’s B&L, Aimal Formoli of Formoli’s Bistro and Danny Origel of Roxy Restaurant and Bar)—who will be whipping up delish dishes in just 20 minutes using 20 ingredients, such as canned peaches, bacon and peanut butter). Judges include Café Vinoteca owner Janie Desmond and Chris Macias of The Sacramento Bee.
Want a taste? About two dozen lucky attendees will have the chance to sample the custom creations and judge for themselves. The event is free and takes place in California Emergency Foodlink’s headquarters in Depot Park (Bay 12) on 5800 Foodlink Street in Sacramento.
