Hit the street in boxers and briefs at the fifth annual Sacramento Undy Run

Boxers or briefs? Race with your choice of skivvies at Sacramento’s fifth annual Undy Run/Walk, which will take place in William Land Park on Feb. 27.
Hosted by the Colon Cancer Alliance, the charity event invites Sacramento runners to partake in a timed 5K or 1-mile walk wearing underthings, from the blue camouflage boxer shorts provided for registered runners to themed attire like superhero costumes.
“We’ve seen dogs in tutus and people dressed as Superman, Batman and even Colon Cancer Man,” says Gabrielle Nadel, coordinator for the Colon Cancer Alliance. “It puts a lighthearted, easy spin to something that is very serious.”
Kids can scamper along a 1-mile fun run, and racers can compete in a costume contest and walk through a massive inflatable colon. Plus, visit with Sacramento River Cats mascot Dinger and dance to tunes spun from 93.7 Jack FM radio personalities, who will be on hand to emcee the event and hand out boxer-shaped medals to top place finishers.
The event will also include a moment of silence during the opening ceremony to honor those who have passed away from colon cancer, and post-race, a colon cancer survivor will speak about her battle with the disease and invite other survivors and patients to the stage to be recognized. Upon registration, all colon cancer survivors will receive a T-shirt with the phrase “Let us be bold. Let us be brave. Let us be together.”
$35 through Feb 26; $40 on race day ($30 in advance and $35 on race day for ages 6-13; free for ages 5 and younger.). Feb. 27. 7:30-10:30 a.m. 4215 Freeport Blvd. 877-422-2030. ccalliance.org
