Hot Italian is bringing the heat to Davis with a new restaurant opening in late fall in the Davis Commons, next to Mikuni and Whole Foods.

The Davis location of the popular pizza and panini bar, which is scheduled to open in late November or early December, will be slightly smaller than its midtown Sacramento and Emeryville locations at 1,500 square feet, with both indoor seating available for 50 and an outdoor patio that can seat up to 60. Patrons will recognize the minimalist black-and-white style and Italian design throughout the new space.

Though smaller in size, the pizzeria won’t be skimping on the traditional offerings it is known for. A limited menu will stay true to the brand with espresso drinks, gelato and pies like the Bellucci with house made fennel sausage, tomato sauce, mozzarella and fresh ricotta cheese; or the popular Fiori with prosciutto parma, mozzarella, mushrooms, tomato sauce, arugula and Bariani truffle oil. Lepore added that Hot Italian in Davis will continue the brand’s commitment to sourcing ingredients from local farms like Del Rio Botanical in West Sacramento and Riverdog Farm in Guinda.

Owner Andrea Lepore believes Davis is the perfect place to open a new restaurant. “[Davis] embodies everything we’re about; there is a love and celebration of local food here, and we will combine that with Italian food,” Lepore says.
