March 4-8 “I hope my story touches a new generation of women. I want to pass the baton,” wrote Tina Turner in a Rolling Stone essay about the eponymous Tony Award-winning 2018 jukebox musical chronicling her tumultuous and triumphant life. Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense
March 5-30 Aided by his quick-thinking and resourceful valet, a bumbling British aristocrat attempts to mount a one-man show in this play within a play that has been described as Monty Python meets Downton Abbey. Cavalleria Rusticana
March 15 Betrayal, heartbreak, a love rectangle and a deadly duel—all in just 70 minutes. Pietro Mascagni’s one-act Sicilian opera comes to the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts stage, with Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera’s principal conductor Ari Pelto leading more than 100 singers and musicians during his first operatic podium turn with the company. sacphilopera.org
Jim Henson’s Labyrinth in Concert
March 25 Goblin King, Goblin King, wherever you might be, a spellbinding night at the Crest Theatre we foresee. The synth-pop soundtrack of 1986s Labyrinth—which included five original songs by David Bowie, who starred in the film—helped make this cinematic trip to Goblin City a cult classic.
