Raise a glass (and a few bucks) this weekend for the Center for Land-Based Learning

There’s no shortage of Sacramento Beer Week highlights to navigate this weekend, but for a little added farm-to-fork touch, drop by Lowbrau on Saturday. The bustling bierhall at 20th and K streets will offer all-day food and drink specials with proceeds benefiting the Center for Land-Based Learning in Winters.

Menu items will include Lowbrau’s breakfast scramble for early birds and, in keeping with Lowbrau’s sausage excellence, a “Land-Based Learning Best of the Wurst” (featuring ingredients from Land-Based Learning alums Hearty Fork Farm and a choice of a 1/2 salad or Lowbrau’s Duck Fat Fries for $11) for the afternoon and evening crowd. One dollar from the purchase of each item—as well as $1 from every Ruhstaller beer sold—will go to support the Center. (Read more about the institution and its founder Craig McNamara in Sactown’s profile from last year.)

Meanwhile, Land-Based Learning staff and reps from Hearty Fork Farm will be on hand from 4 to 8 p.m. to answer questions and raise a Beer Week toast to locally grown brew. Sounds like the wurst way to spend a Saturday might not be too bad after all.
