Run wild at Capay Organic during 5K With Your Farmer

Break a sweat on the farm this weekend—without getting your hands dirty—when home produce delivery service Farm Fresh to You presents 5K With Your Farmer, a rain-or-shine fun run along Capay Organic farm’s scenic dirt roads.

Runners, walkers and joggers of all ages are welcome to participate in the 5K, which begins promptly at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday. (Participants are urged to arrive at 10 a.m. to sign in.) Following the run, guests can hop on a tractor tram for a farm tour, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tour-goers will view fields of fruits and vegetables, harvest strawberries and hear a talk from Capay's head farmer Thaddeus Barsotti on organic and sustainable agriculture. Activities like the farm’s face painting, petting zoo and craft activities will keep kids entertained as well.

Prizes for the run’s top finishers include $25 CSA box credits, T-shirts, water bottles and other goodies from the race's organizers at Farm Fresh to You. Registration for the 5K is $15 per person (which includes admission to the farm tour; non-runners can take the tour for $5); kids 12 and under can run and tour for free. All of the run’s proceeds benefit the Kathleen Barsotti Non-Profit for Sustainable Agriculture, which provides school materials to farmworkers’ children and awards an annual agriculture scholarship.
