True to its name, Todo Un Poco has a little of everything—including a fiercely devoted Elk Grove following. But it’s worth a trip from wherever in the region you happen to reside. Mexico native Marie Mertz, the personable owner-chef-server, presents a huge, creative menu on which traditional Mexican and Italian dishes (though she grew up in Mexico, her European father influenced the family meals) coexist with surprising multicultural combinations like chicken mole pizza. Don’t miss the cheesy, richly flavored steak and pesto pizza and make sure to ask for extra napkins for the juicy carnitas, served with three salsa variations. If, almost impossibly, you don’t see something on the menu that immediately strikes your fancy, request an off-the-menu item like a meatball Caesar salad or chicken mole fettuccine with queso fresco. If they have the ingredients on hand, they’ll happily make it for you.
