New live Cake single on sale for Record Store Day

Fans of the Sacramento band Cake have something to sate their rock ’n’ roll lifestyles today, April 20, aka Record Store Day—a relatively new international celebration of all things vinyl. That’s because the band is releasing a seven-inch vinyl teaser single today as a prelude to the release of a re-mastered box set of eight vinyl records on Black Friday’s Record Store Day on Nov. 29 (yes, Record Store Day is actually two days a year). The limited edition single (only 2,000 copies) features two previously unreleased live tracks of the songs “Sheep Go to Heaven” and “Jesus Wrote a Blank Check,” and was made on opaque white vinyl with orange swirls. It goes on sale at independent record stores around the country today, including local retailers like The Beat and Dimple Records.
