A WHOLE LOTTA LATTE

World Traveler’s specialty latte flight offers one sweet ride with five fanciful flavors.

Creative craft lattes are a signature at World Traveler Coffee Roasters, where you can feel spoiled for choice. If you’re vacillating between flowery flavors like a buzz-seeking bee—“Should I go for the heady honey lavender latte or the equally swoony rose vanilla latte?”—our advice is to plunk down $16 for the latte flight. You can sip and sample your way through five 6-ounce pours of the roastery’s best-sellers—which include the two aforementioned flavors, along with Irish cream, caramel vanilla and brown sugar—arranged on a wooden board with charming hand-chalked labeling. Hatched as an off-menu idea in 2021 at the midtown location, the latte quintet slowly made its way to the regional chain’s other sit-down cafes, in Roseville, Folsom and El Dorado Hills. It was a sleeper hit until last November, when it popped on social media. The lavender, vanilla and honey syrups are crafted in-house, while the rose and Irish cream come from French brand Monin, and the rich, round caramel flavor comes from a dollop of actual caramel sauce stirred into the house blend of Colombian, Guatemalan and Ethiopian espresso. Our favorite? The humblest: brown sugar, where a stir-in of the real thing imparts just a kiss of golden warmth that sends us back to watching Mom bake cookies in the kitchen and waiting to lick the spoon. You can order your flight with alt milk (oat, almond or soy) and even specify decaf espresso. But the caramel vanilla is the only one of these bespoke concoctions that can be made sugar-free, so you might want to wait until your cheat day for takeoff. worldtravelercoffee.com
