Juno’s Kitchen & Delicatessen

Cuisine: American

Essential Information

3675 J St., Sacramento, CA 95816
916-456-4522

The pocket-sized Juno’s Kitchen, which is owned by chef Mark Helms (formerly of Ravenous Café, an out-of-the-way foodie favorite in the Pocket), focuses on the humble sandwich—but they’re done with a chef’s panache and top-notch ingredients, and all assembled to order. Helms is known for cooking with Spanish and Mediterranean flair, and that bent shows up in toasted sammies like one made with Serrano ham and roasted red peppers, a hearty Angus burger with cheddar cheese and “fancy” sauce, and a sandwich of halloumi (a cheese from Cyprus). Those with other culinary predilections, however, will find plenty to please: a spicy, pork-rich spin on a banh mi, an all-American steak sandwich, or a grilled chicken beauty with crispy prosciutto. A few entrées and salads round out the choices.
