Land Ocean New American Grill
Mark and Karoline Platt, the owners of Sienna in El Dorado Hills, have edged down the hill to Folsom for their second venture, Land Ocean New American Grill, a swanky yet casual steakhouse that references surf and turf in its menu and name. The atmosphere is dim and stylish, with a modern twist: The building is striped with dark wood shutters and a blond slatted ceiling, outfitted with cushy leather booths, and punctuated by a dramatically mod bubble light fixture over the bar. The fare, too, is updated traditional: From the land come steaks, augmented with other carnivore-pleasing choices like tender, wood-fired rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes, and, at lunch, prime rib French dip sandwiches. The ocean yields catches like macadamia nut-encrusted sea bass with coconut rice, seared salmon and a biweekly fresh fish special.
