Lola’s Lounge
Essential Information
Eat local and go global at Lola’s Lounge, a new eatery opened in a 19th-century building in Elk Grove’s historic downtown by Tito Class and Annette Serrano, a husband-and-wife duo who sought to celebrate their Puerto Rican heritage with cuisines from Spanish-speaking countries. That vision takes shape in items like the traditional paella bursting with mussels, scallops, chorizo, chicken and shrimp, or the crisp Catalonian flatbreads with toppings like Serrano ham, Spanish olives or Idiazabal, a Basque cheese. Central to the menu are the fun, tapas-like antojitos (“little bites”), such as the maduritos (sweet fried plantains) and empanadas filled with picadillo beef, red bell peppers, raisins and almonds. Many of those internationally inspired dishes are anchored to our region by the kitchen’s thoughtful sourcing of ingredients from area providers like Capay Gold Olive Oil Company.
