Origami Asian Grill
Imagine a Chipotle with choices like ramen and pork belly. That’s the basic concept behind Origami Asian Grill, which was launched by Paragary’s alums Scott Ostrander and Paul DiPierro in 2018. Indeed, at this low-key East Sacramento restaurant with high-quality Far East fare, you can head to the counter to build your own bowl or sandwich. First, choose your base: rice, noodle salad, bánh mì or, our favorite, the soul-warming ramen with an optional buttery 63-degree egg. Then add protein—such as smoked tri-tip, marinated tofu or the aforementioned glazed pork belly, which is fall-apart tender—and sauce, like the charred onion glaze or fermented chile miso. Bring buddies to share a platter of perfectly crisped, maple-glazed fried chicken, and chill out on the patio, rimmed by a living wall cascading with greenery.
