Rudy’s Hideaway
Essential Information
It may seem like a fish out of water moored between a gas station and a motel off Highway 50, but Rudy’s has been a star of the region’s marine cuisine scene for almost 50 years. With its surprisingly affordable array of weekly seafood specials, like cioppino on Wednesdays or a one-pound live Maine lobster on Thursdays for $22 each, walls lined with portraits of sea captains (including Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow) and a 50-foot mural of the San Francisco Bay, it nails the Fisherman’s Wharf vibe, minus the tourist mobs. And look out for the eatery’s food truck, Rudy’s on the Roll, which offers fish and chips, lobster rolls and Rudy’s signature clam chowder.
