Sushi Q
Essential Information
In a 41-seat sushi house on the border of Elk Grove and South Sacramento, the husband-and-wife team of Qui Tu and Kimthy Dai is serving up the simple yet inventive sushi that chef Tu has been experimenting with for almost two decades (during stints at restaurants like Woodland’s Jinju Sushi). Anchoring the diverse menu at this cozy eatery, which opened in August 2015, are rolls like the Bomb Dot Com (a spice lover’s dream made with silky white tuna, buttery escolar and an uber-hot chili sauce) and the Elk Grove (a protein-packed roll stuffed with shrimp tempura and crab salad that is topped with barbecue albacore tuna and cole slaw). With an open kitchen that also dishes out everything from edamame sautéed in puréed garlic and togarashi spice to deep bowls of sinus-clearing ramen and impeccably constructed plates of sashimi, the story of Sushi Q is one fish tale worth telling.
