Neon, graffiti and grunge combine to lend a sultry ’80s New Wave vibe to this downtown restaurant, which opened a year ago with a cool concept: dim-sum-style carts doling out New American morsels. With its new Cali-Mex reboot, Tiger slows its roll (you order everything from a menu), but keeps the cart concept alive with tableside guacamole prepared on a trolley in a performance fit to compete with whatever’s happening down the street at Golden 1 Center and best paired with a craft cocktail like La Bamba, with tequila Charanda Rum, passionfruit, and Burly pineapple nutmeg shrub. Shareables like baby back ribs and wonton tostadas are also on the revamped lineup created by chef Bart Roberts, but our fave is the three-taco combo, where you can choose between options like melt-in-your-mouth carnitas and jerk chicken with avocado crema and pineapple salsa. Pro tip: However you mix and match at Tiger, be sure to get a side of the sublimely pillowy, creamy roasted poblano polenta, and you’ll be all set for a roaring good time.
