Tres Hermanas

Cuisine: Mexican

Essential Information

2416 K St., Sacramento, CA
916-443-6919

This well-loved midtown stalwart on K Street dishes up hearty portions of northern Mexican food. As the name implies, it’s owned by three sisters—Norma, Sonia and Dora—who hail originally from Chihuahua, and they put the “friendly” back in family friendly; at any given meal, you’ll find all ages enjoying the lavish combo plates. You won’t find a lot of surprises here—just honestly prepared, tasty fare—but the sisters have a few fresh twists up their sleeve. Don’t miss the succulent carnitas or the chile verde; we also love the delicious chicken enchiladas verde, and the excellent margaritas. There are also a number of great vegetarian options, including veggie fajitas and chile rellenos, and the vibrant, mint-green creamy cilantro dressing has a deserved cult following. The restaurant’s décor is as bright as that dressing, with wild-hued walls and an expansive patio in good weather.
