Zocalo Roseville
Essential Information
Midtown favorite Zocalo has taken its elevated and authentic Mexican menu and cocktail program and exported it to Roseville, taking over a 4,500-square-foot space previously occupied by Tres Tequila Lounge & Mexican Kitchen. The space boasts a wild and wonderful pre-Columbian-meets-modern-Iberian vibe, thanks to Mexican artist Ernesto Cruz, who also outfitted the original restaurant on 18th and Capitol. On the must-eat list: Dos Equis Ambar beer-battered fish tacos; moist, cut-with-a-fork cochinita pibil, slow cooked with achiote, habanero salsa and pickled red onion; and, of course, the signature green cilantro-lime rice. While the menu is identical, Roseville visitors will notice some slight flavor enhancements to certain meats, thanks to the wood-fire grill and rotisserie inherited from the former tenants.
