Six last-minute brunches to book for Easter Sunday

Easter falls on Sunday, March 27, this year, one of the earliest dates in decades. We’ve rounded up six scrumptious Easter brunches throughout the region to help you celebrate the holiday just in time.

Fat’s Asia Bistro & Dim Sum Bar

Savor an Asian-inspired take on brunch at the Roseville and Folsom outposts of the Fat’s restaurant empire. Offerings include everything from pot roast to dim sum, as well as plentiful seafood dishes like sushi rolls, Alaskan crab legs, salmon and Fat’s famed honey-walnut prawns. The Firehouse

This Old Sacramento institution will be serving up an elegant brunch with standouts that include a shrimp “Oscar” Benedict comprising Oregon bay shrimp salad, Delta asparagus and sauce Arlésienne, plus a braised pork belly with sweet potato hash. Be sure to save room for the dessert duo—a slice of vanilla bean pain perdu (French toast) paired with a s’mores-inspired dish with chocolate panna cotta, toasted marshmallow mousse and crumbled graham cracker streusel. $45.95; $19.95 for ages 5-12. 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. 1112 2nd St. 442-4772.

Formaggio Taverna and Patio

Visit with the Easter bunny at this Rancho Cordova brunch, which will feature highlights like a seafood sampler of prawns, king crab legs and oyster shooters, a yogurt parfait bar, rosemary-crusted leg of lamb and brown-sugar-coated ham. Satiate your sweet tooth at the candy bar or dip fruit into a running chocolate fountain. $45; $22 ages 12 and under. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. 11211 Point East Dr. Rancho Cordova. 638-1100.

Hawks Restaurant

Spring is in the air during this seasonally inspired brunch in Granite Bay with starters of freshly baked pastries, whipped ricotta with local strawberries and a wild-mushroom-cheddar quiche with Delta asparagus and white truffle emulsion. Guest can select from Alaskan halibut with Béarnaise sauce, Niman Ranch ham or lamb chops with fava beans, and round out the meal with Santa Teresa lemon bars, served with a lemon olive oil sorbet. An à la carte menu will also be available for little ones, offering fruit, salad, waffles and chicken fingers. And don’t forget to grab an Easter egg out of the basket before you leave. Osteria Fasulo

This Davis eatery boast an all-day prix fixe Easter menu of Italian-inspired dishes. Start with a pastry basket complete with house-made blueberry butter and a glass of mimosa (made with blood orange juice) before savoring selections such as the Mediterranean salmon tartare with cucumber yogurt, a salad of fava beans, prosciutto and pecorino, and entrées like a seafood frittata and polenta lasagna with béchamel sauce. $55; $20 for ages 11 and under. 11:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. 2657 Portage Bay East. Paragary’s executive chef Kurt Spataro offers a French-inspired Easter meal at this midtown restaurant. Brunch lovers will find starters like chilled Delta asparagus and smoked salmon, and a yogurt parfait with fresh berries and granola, followed by the classic Paragary’s Benedict and a savory bread pudding with leeks, ham and Gruyere, among other offerings.
