Jersey Boys (Friday through Sunday)
In this Broadway hit recounting the tale of The Four Seasons, the band’s “adventures and misadventures, camaraderie and infighting, triumphs and gradual disintegration meld into a serendipitous mix of comedy and drama,” according to Bloomberg. Throughout the musical—which earned four Tony Awards in 2006 and was turned into a film directed by Clint Eastwood earlier this year—listen for catchy tunes that catapulted the group and its leader Frankie Valli to superstardom, including “Can’t  Take My Eyes Off Of You,” “Sherry,”  and “Walk Like A Man.” $38-$153. Friday 8 p.m. Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m. Sunday at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Community Center Theater. 1301 L St. 557-1999. californiamusicaltheatre.com

Kate (Friday through Sunday)
Sacramento Theatre Company continues its season of “Legends, Epics and Icons” with the premiere of this fictionalized drama by local playwright Rick Foster about legendary actress Katharine Hepburn. Set on New Year’s Eve in 1999, this largely one-character play imagines the film star at age 92 as she reflects back on her career and personal life—including her relationship with Spencer Tracy—and features Drama Desk Award-nominated actress Janis Stevens in the title role. $34-$38. Friday at 8 p.m. Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m. Sunday at 2 p.m. Sacramento Theatre Company’s Pollock Stage. 1419 H St. 443-6722. sactheatre.org

Sacramento Moustache Run (Saturday)
Zoom and groom for a good cause for the second annual Sacramento Moustache Run, a 5K race benefiting the American Cancer Society. Held along West Sacramento’s River Walk Park, the event also features a free, half-mile kids' fun run and contests in different categories like “Best Kids Moustache" and “Best Team Theme and Costumes.” As with last year, volunteers dressed as old-fashioned barbers with large prop scissors will chase runners, pretending to cut their mustaches as they pass by. Afterward the trek, drop by an after-party with food from Drewski’s and The Squeeze Inn; suds from regional breweries; and lawn games like cornhole and giant Jenga. $50 (race registration includes entrance to after-party). $10 for single after-party tickets ($5 for ages 12-17). 5K start time: 11 a.m.; kids' fun run: 10:45 a.m. River Walk Park. 651 2nd St. West Sacramento. 500-4992. sacramentomoustacherun.com

Camellia Symphony Orchestra (Saturday)
This Camellia Symphony Orchestra concert will begin with Beethoven’s majestic Coriolan overture, followed by Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, which will feature two soloists: Hrabba Atladottir (a violinist who has performed with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and Björk alike) and Berkeley Symphony violist Darcy Rindt. The evening’s centerpiece will be the powerful and romantic Symphony No. 4 in E-flat major by Austrian composer Anton Bruckner. $30. 7:30 p.m. Sacramento City College Performing Arts Center. 3835 Freeport Blvd. 929-6655. camelliasymphony.org

Czech Philharmonic Orchestra (Saturday)
The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra returns to its roots with a performance of Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor (From the New World), which the group played in 1896 at its first concert, conducted by Dvořák himself. Also included in the program is fellow Czech maestro Franz Liszt’s dramatic Piano Concerto No. 2 in A major, led by the acclaimed French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Tickets start at $62. 8 p.m. Mondavi Center’s Jackson Hall. Mrak Hall Dr. and Old Davis Rd. Davis. 530-754-2787. mondaviarts.org
